Summary
I feel like there's no question that I've made some good progress this year. I've had a couple of opportunities to win on Clutch and I feel like it's been close. Qualifying for the International Series event through a playoff, getting very close to progressing through DP Q school first stage has given me good confidence to know I can execute the shots under that pressure. The stats back up this progress which is encouraging. I think the biggest area to improve is the driver as my penalty shot percentage is a little high with 2.6%. This has resulted at times leading to double bogeys or worse which has cost me a few results which could have changed my season a considerable amount. Then if I can hole out on the greens slightly better than I think this will really help.
Asian Tour Q School
I felt like the style of golf in Asia was different to what I've experienced before, which is no surprise. The main thing is the type of grass, you must hit it in the fairway to have any control of your approach shot into the green. With the greens being firm and fast, this was key but because of the warmer climate, you can hit the ball a lot further which allows shorter irons for the second shot. For large parts of Q school, I played some good golf but like anything, it's about how costly the mistakes are. For the first two rounds, driver cost me 3 penalty shots then for the last two rounds, I had 4 three putts. I struggled on the par 3s, playing these accumulative +8 for the four days which certainly highlighted a bit of a weakness for me.
As always, many thanks for all your support the 2024 season
Many thanks
